JGU Mainz offers excellent public transport connections. Multiple bus and tram lines serve the campus. If you are arriving at Mainz central station (Hauptbahnof/Hbf), the best way to reach the campus is to exit through the West exit. From here, a “short-distance ticket” (Kurzstreckenticket) is sufficient and cheaper than a regular ticket and available for purchase from bus drivers or at ticket machines.

If you don’t own a bicycle, you can register with Mainzer Mobilität and rent bikes at numerous stations in and around Mainz. There are bike rental stations at the central train station and on campus, along with many other locations.
These directions will take you to the main gate (Hauptpforte) of the university. The main gate leads you onto the campus grounds. Free parking is available for one-time visits; regular visitors require a paid parking permit. Please see the section “Parking on and around the campus” for details. Coming from the west (from Bonn/Cologne):
Follow the A60 highway through the interchange Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz toward Darmstadt, take the Mainz-Finthen exit, then follow signs for Saarstraße/Innenstadt straight through the Europaplatz roundabout, take the Universität exit (first exit after the Europaplatz roundabout). At the traffic light, turn left toward the university, then take the next left.
Coming from the east (from Würzburg/Darmstadt):
Follow the A60 highway through the interchange Autobahn-Dreieck Rüsselsheim or from the A63 through the interchange Autobahnkreuz Mainz onto the A60 toward Bingen, take the Mainz-Finthen exit, then follow signs for Saarstraße/Innenstadt straight through the Europaplatz roundabout, take the Universität exit (first exit after the Europaplatz roundabout). At the traffic light, turn left toward the university, then take the next left.
Coming from the north (from Kassel):
Follow the A66 highway and merge onto the A643 toward Mainz at the interchange Schiersteiner Kreuz, then follow the highway to the interchange Autobahn-Dreieck Mainz, where you merge onto the A60 toward Darmstadt. Take the Mainz-Finthen exit, then follow signs for Saarstraße/Innenstadt straight through the Europaplatz roundabout, take the Universität exit (first exit after the Europaplatz roundabout). At the traffic light, turn left toward the university, then take the next left.
Parking on the university campus is generally available for specific groups, including people with disabilities (particularly mobility impairments), residents of student housing on the campus grounds, and others. Due to the large number of staff and students but only a limited number of parking spaces, parking on campus requires a paid entrance permit.

Exception: Students with disabilities who have the designation “außergewöhnliche Gehbehinderung” (aG, exceptional mobility impairment) on their ID card for the severely disabled are exempt from parking fees upon presentation of the ID with the designation.

Continue by bus: ORN bus from Terminal 3, a direct bus to Mainz central train station departs every three hours and takes approximately 1.5 hours. You can find airport shuttle schedules from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport to Mainz here.
Continue by car: Follow signs toward Ludwigshafen to the interchange Nahetal Dreieck, then take the A60 highway toward Mainz. Stay on the A60 until the Saarstraße exit, take the exit and continue straight through the Europaplatz roundabout, then take Universität exit.
